“Centro 73 is the first ever recorded squat in the Republic of Moldova and it is about to go, claim the squatters who have claimed an abandoned historical building and turned it into a alternative cultural hang-out. According to the squatters, they cleaned up the building that was in poor condition and then used it for cultural underground events. Now, the owner of the building wants to evict the squatters and tear down the property in order to build a new one. Bloggers, journalists and supporters from Moldova are now trying to raise attention at the fact that the building, a historical monument, is in danger of disappearing entirely. Moldova, once a Soviet republic and, before that, part of Romania, is Europe’s poorest country, with an entagled political context. The Communist party has come out with the largest number of votes in the elections held on November the 22nd”
