According to the squatters, they cleaned up the building that was in poor condition and then used it for cultural underground events. Now, the owner of the building wants to evict the squatters and tear down the property in order to build a new one. Bloggers, journalists and supporters from Moldova are now trying to raise attention at the fact that the building, a historical monument, is in danger of disappearing entirely. Moldova, once a Soviet republic and, before that, part of Romania, is Europe’s poorest country, with an entagled political context. The Communist party has come out with the largest number of votes in the elections held on November the 22nd”

CENTRO 73 NEEDS YOU

CENTRO 73 ARE NEVOIE DE TINE!
Cum cel mai probabil ai observat deja, Centro 73 nu este un loc ca celelalte pe care le poți găsi în Chișinău… De la începutul lui, fiecare persoană implicată în acest squat l-a vrut ca un spaţiu unde oamenii s-ar simţi liberi, un loc ne-comercial, susținut de fiecare și pentru fiecare.    Dacă acum citești acest mesaj, înseamnă că ești și tu interesat/ă în acest loc și în evenimentele care sunt organizate acolo.
Dar contrar celorlalte locuri, Centrul nu este condus de cineva pentru a fi folosit de către altcineva care plăteşte pentru serviciu.
Tot ce există acolo vine de la cei care vor să ajute, să contribuie, să se implice în organizarea sau care vor să dea un bănuț.
Acest mesaj cheamă şi după ajutorul tău.
În primul rând, toate hotărârile, toate evenimentele, proiectele, ideile, plângerile și propunerile sunt propuse și luate la plenară, ce are loc în fiecare luni seara la ora 18.30. Din păcate, fiecare săptămâna vedem acolo aceeași oameni, și in fiecare săptămâna vin mai puțini oameni – și consecința logică este: mai puține idei noi, mai puțină motivație și mai puțină forță de muncă.
Iată de ce, pentru ca Centro să poată exista şi să nu fie format de aceeaşi oameni, vino și tu la plenară, și adu ideile, propunerile și proiectele tale! Să cumpărăm băuturi și produse locale la piață, să pregatim evenimente și să facem curațenie în casă, toate implică timp, aşa că vino luni seara și oferă contribuţia ta!    Dacă ai o canapea care nu îți mai trebuie și nu știi ce să faci cu ea, dă-o squatului! Vino și spune-ne, te ajutăm cu drag să o aducem!    Dacă știi tap-dancing – mișto! Vino și propune un workshop! Cu siguranță cineva o să fie interesat/ă!    Mătușa ta face vin de casă ca lumea? Vino și nu ține în secret – noi îi putem vinde vinul! Mereu avem nevoie de băuturi bune pentru eveninemente.    Ai găsit un loc unde se vinde aragaz la un preț cît mai mic și de o calitată bună? Nu mai aștepta. Zi-ne!    Ți-a venit o idee pentru o decorație, o reparație, o expoziție? Vino, propune, cere ajutor!    Ceva în legatură cu squatul te enervează sau te-a supărat? Vino și spune-ne!
Avem nevoie de orice ce ar putea avea valoare şi utilitate pentru comunitatea noastră. Și tot ce ne ajută în vreun fel este binevenit!    Și – dacă vii și o să crezi că nu ţi se ascultă opinia sau simți că nu poți vorbi liber, să nu-ți fie rușine să o spui! Toţi sînt egali și nimeni nu are mai multe drepturi!
Şi altceva. Noi trăim într-o lume în care există și bani. Trebuie să cumpărăm lumânări, băuturi, vopsea, ţinte, scule, să imprimăm poze şi multe de alte. Vrem să cumpărăm un aragaz pentru a face ceai și cafea (căci vine iarna și încă
pentru zilele de duminică cînd vom mânca impreună). Aragazul e cam scump și în plus, în curând, probabil să avem electricitate! Va trebui să asigurăm instalarea şi nu în ultimul rând se vor adauga şi plăţile lunare.    Fiecare eveniment organizat în squat este gratuit (în afară de băuturi – la care am schimbat modul de plată, de la preț liber/donație la un preț fix, fiindcă cheltuiam mai mult decît strângeam). Din cauza asta ajutorul tău financiar este binevenit – și foarte important.
Centro 73 este mai mult decît un loc mișto, el este un nou mod de gândi. Dacă asta este și parerea ta și dacă vrei să crească importanța sa, să demonstrăm că se poate și altfel, vino și implică-te!

CENTRO 73 NEEDS YOU

As you probably noticed, Centro 73 is not a place like most others you can find in Chişinău… Since the beginning everybody who has been involved in the squat has wanted this place to be free, non-commercial and from everybody for everybody.

If you read this message you are probably interested in this place and the events organized there. But different from other places Centro 73 is not ruled by some people for the use of some others who pay for the service. All what is living there comes from the will of those who want to organize, help or give some money – voluntarily.

This message is a call for YOUR help.

First of all, all the decisions which are taken, all the events which are organized, all the comments, ideas, complaints, projects for the squat are talked about in the plenară every monday at 18.30. Unfortunately, each week we see almost the same people, and each week less people and consequently less new ideas, less motivation, less strength. If you want Centro 73 to stay alive and not to become “ruled” by those same people, “ruled” by anybody, you are really welcome on our monday meetings and to bring your ideas and projects.

Buying some drinks in the open-air market, preparing events, cleaning or repairing the squat takes a lot of time, so come on monday evening and propose your help as far as you can!

You have a couch, you don’t know what to do with it and want to give it to the squat? Come and ask some help to bring it here!

You know tap-dancing and you want to teach it? Come and propose a workshop, I’m sure some people will be interested!

Your aunt makes a really good wine? Come and propose to sell it to the squat, we always need drinks for events!

You’ve found a place were we can find a cheap and good quality gaz cooker? Come!

You have a good idea for building, repairing, decorating something? Come, propose and ask for help!

You are angry about something related to the squat? Come and talk about it!

…

Everything which can be enriching the community is welcome, encouraging and needed!

Also, if you come and you have the impression that you can’t speak or you’re not listened to, or that people don’t consider your point of view, don’t be ashamed to say it! Everybody has the same rights in this place.

Then, as we live in this world, we need money to exist. We need to buy a lot of candles, drinks, paint, nails, tools, sheets, print pictures, etc. We also want to buy a gaz cooker (for tea and coffee in the winter and also food), which is expensive and maybe we will have electricity soon, costing uns money for installations and the bills each month.

Everything which is organized at the squat is free (except the drinks which we changed from free donations to a fixed price because we spent more money than we earned) and it’s a part of its strength.

So, your financial help is also welcome, as far as you can, it is very important!

Centro 73 is more than a cool place to be, it is a different way of thinking. If you beleive in it and want it to get more important to show that another way is possible, come and be a another brick in the wall.

Theater project

dear possible theater-workshop attendants!
although we enjoy the theater workshop as it is right now, we have some proposals. the initial idea of the workshop was to make a firm impro-theater group. right now it is different people coming to each workshop, arriving late and leaving early. like this we can make some easy going, fun activities and just pass time, but we are not really making progress or going anywhere. today we wanted to discuss about this, but almost nobody (also of the people claiming on facebook that they would attend) came. therefore i’m writing this.
we don’t know what you’re interested in when coming to the theater workshop. we had the idea to rehearse a play, now that it’s winter and too cold & dark to play on the streets. this would bring us further and be something productive. but for this we need a group of people that regularly shows up and participates in a reliable way. if nobody is interested in this, we can just continue the usual way and keep doing basic exercises and have some fun. if somebody is interested, i’m sure we can make something great! so please think about it and show up (!) next thursday, at least when you’re interested.

DRINK RESPONSIBLY!

Dragi vizitatori ai squatului!

În trecutul apropiat am avut nişte experienţe proaste cu oameni alcoolizaţi. Oricine (cel puţin, cel care a stat vreodată treaz lângă oameni beţi) poate spune că alcoolul poate duce la un comportament agresiv, insensibil şi enervant.
Noi dăm vin pentru donaţii. În primul rând pentru a colecta bani pentru lucruri importante pe care le are nevoie squatul, ca de exemplu un aragaz. Când ne-om putea permite acest lucru o să vă putem oferi ceai fierbinte când e frig, şi vom găti împreună mai des…
Totuşi acest alcool nu ar trebui să creeze o atmosferă în care oamenii s-ar simţi inconfortabil la evenimentele noastre. Din păcate acesta a fost cazul.
Nimeni nu are vreo problemă cu oamenii care se bucură de o pereche de băuturi pentru a-şi ilumina un pic seara. Dar, îndată ce oamenii sunt capabili de a pune în pericol mediul în care se află, sau doar creează o atmosferă tensionată, negativă, noi nu suntem de acord cu acest consum al alcoolului.
Altă problemă e că am avut nişte vizite de la poliţie, ca urmare a plângerilor din partea vecinilor de peste gard. Acest lucru cu siguranţă are legatură cu oamenii care fumează şi beau afară, şi nu o fac în linişte (în special după ora unsprezece). După cum ştim cu toţii, oamenii beţi sunt gălăgioşi. Şi noi credem că nimeni nu se bucură de vizitile poliţiştilor.

Prin urmare, noi cerem să vă gândiţi la consumul propriu de alcool şi cel puţin, atunci când vizitaţi squatul, să beţi responsabil!
Deasemenea, vă încurajăm, dacă vă simţiţi deranjaţi de oameni puternic alcoolizaţi, să vorbiţi cu ei, să vorbiţi cu barkeeperul, să vorbiţi cu alţii, comunicaţi!
Dacă observaţi că unul din prietenii voştri toarnă în el ca un nesătul futut, este şi responsabilitatea voastră să aveţi grijă de el/ea, să vorbiţi cu el/ea, căci probabil aţi face-o mai bine decât noi.

Scopul nostru e să ne simţim cu toţii bine. Şi cea mai bună cale pentru a asigura acest lucru e: să avem grijă unul de celălalt, să respectăm pe cei din jur.

Dear squat visitors!

In the near past we have made some bad experiences with alcoholized people. As anybody (at least who has ever been sober around drunk people) can tell, alcohol can lead to an aggressive, insensitive and annoying behaviour.

We give away wine for donations. In the first place to collect some money for important things we need for the squat, as for example a gas cooker. When we can afford this this we can offer you tea when it’s cold, cook more frequently with you, … This alcohol should yet not lead to an atmosphere at our events where anybody feels uncomfortable. Unfortunately that has been the case.

Nobody has a problem with people enjoying a couple of drinks to enlighten their evening. But as soon as people are capable of endangering their environment or just creating a tense, negative atmosphere, we do not agree with this alcohol consumption. Another problem is that we have had visits from the police, due to complaints of the neighbours. This is definitely connected to people smoking or drinking outside, and not doing this quietly. As we all know, drunk people are loud. And I think nobody enjoys police visits.

Therefore we ask you to think about your alcohol consumption and -at least when you visit the squat- to drink responsibly! We also encourage anyone who feels discomforted by strongly alcoholized people to talk to them, talk to the barkeeper, talk to others; communicate! If you observe one of your close friends getting wasted, it’s also your responsibility to take care of them and talk to them, because you can probably do it better than us!

The aim we all have in the squat is to have a good time with each other and one of the most important policies to ensure this is: take care of each other, respect the people around you, don’t look away, communicate, BE RESPONSIBLE!

Chişinăul istoric e în continuă degradare, monumente ale arhitecturii sunt demolate cu aprobarea Primăriei corupte.
Suntem contra distrugerii oraşului nostru istoric.
Suntem contra arhitecţilor corupţi care dau liber la distrugeri ilegale şi la construcţia unor clădiri care nu au nimic în comun cu păstrarea identităţii noastre istorice.
Un oraş fără centru istoric, nu are istorie.

Historical centre of Chisinau is in continuous degradation, monuments of architecture are destroyed with the approval of corrupt City Hall.
We are against the destruction of our historic city.
We against the corrupt architects who give freely to unlawful destruction and construction of buildings that have nothing in common with the preservation of our historical identity.
A city without historical centre, has no history.

Bine aţi venit / welcome to centro 73

Centro 73 este primul centru cultural-social din Moldova creat într-un squat.

Foarte recent, în ziua de sâmbătă, 25 septembrie, Centro73 a fost inaugurat, deschiderea a fost însoţită de muzică live, mâncare şi expoziţie foto. De atunci,  încercăm să stabilim în acest loc un spatiu socio-cultural liber. Oamenii buni cu idei creative sunt mereu bineveniţi să participe în cadrul proiectelor noastre şi să contribuie la creşterea centrului.

Centro 73 is the first squattet socio-cultural center in Moldova.

Very recently, on Saturday the 25th of September centro 73 had it’s public opening with food, music and a photo exhibition. Since then we’re trying to establish the place as a socio-cultural free space in chişinău. Creative ideas and people are always welcome to participate in our project and help this center grow.
